john trinh is an artist-technologist building infrastructure for creative concepts.

what i do

junior at NYU's Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music studying music production, creative marketing, and music technology. recently returned from study abroad in berlin (december 2025).

i make music as oddhorse — a genre-bending electronic/hyperpop project released through Too Lost label. beyond my own work, i provide professional mixing and mastering services, and build custom performance technology for other artists.

how i work

when a creative concept requires specific tools or systems that don't exist, i build them. custom MIDI controllers programmed in C++. Max for Live plugins for production workflows. hand-coded websites. TouchDesigner visual systems. the technical implementation serves the creative vision — never the other way around.

if i don't know how to do something today, i will by next week.

technical background

music production & audio: 5+ years in ableton live (primary focus: granular synthesis, spatial audio, vocal processing). proficient in logic pro, pro tools, max/msp. active client work for mixing, mastering, and sound design.

software development: max for live plugin development, custom midi controller design (esp32 microcontroller programming), web development (html/css/javascript), python scripting, git version control, touchdesigner for live visuals.

design & visual: 3000+ documented hours in blender. adobe creative suite proficiency. brand identity systems, typography, video content creation.

other tools: various audio plugins, premiere pro, after effects, davinci resolve, obs studio, notion, chartmetric, google analytics.

current work

building custom performance tools, developing max for live devices, providing mixing/mastering services, working on original music releases. looking for spring 2026 internships at music tech companies, labels, or creative technology departments.

oddhorse highlights: built instagram following to 5,600+ through strategic content testing. networked internationally in berlin (creamcake, cashmere radio, deadair records). led live band from formation to complex ableton-based performances in 2 months.
